THE Amy Foster is the story of a man lost in the world – literally and figuratively. Janko, castaway in an unknown land, never finds a common language with those around him, except for the kindness of his heart and the song of his soul. Lonely, alien, fragile and proud, he becomes a mirror of the human need for understanding and acceptance. A masterpiece that speaks of loneliness, the inability to communicate, and the ineffable beauty of purity, with profound simplicity about the most naked innocence – the one that cannot defend itself.
THE LINE
They are reading "Breathless»: works small in size, but rich in ideas, boldness and content. The series «Breathless» aspires to highlight lesser-known or forgotten works of world literature, giving them new life through a modern, fresh reading proposition.
THE CREATOR
THE Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) was one of the leading writers of the modernist movement and, although he did not speak English well until his twenties, he is now considered one of the greatest stylists of the English language. His experimental writing and often frightening themes did not make him particularly popular with the critics of his time. World recognition will come with his works Heart of Darkness, Lord Jim, The Secret Agent, Through the Eyes of a Westerner – to mention the most well-known.
