Nana, famous courtesan of Rome in the 1500s, undertakes to teach the secrets of her art to her daughter, Pippa. Thus, we learn how a decent prostitute should eat and speak, how to treat her lover and his friends, and what tricks to pull in bed.

A parody of a Platonic dialogue, written by the delightful pen of Aretino, a writer who was feared by the powerful of the time, to the point of "buying" him off with gifts so that he would not involve them in his works.

THE LINE
They are reading "Breathless»: works small in size, but rich in ideas, boldness and content. The series «Breathless» aspires to highlight lesser-known or forgotten works of world literature, giving them new life through a modern, fresh reading proposition.

THE CREATOR
Pietro Aretino, 16th-century Italian writer (1492-1556). At the age of 20 he was living in Perugia, perhaps studying art, and there he wrote his first poems. In 1517 he moved to Rome and entered the court of Pope Leo X. There he began to write satirical works, based on court gossip and political developments. In 1525 he was forced to leave Rome for good when a hired assassin of Bishop Giovanni Ghiberti, who had become the target of his satire, stabbed and nearly killed him. He spent the rest of his life in Venice, where he wrote most of his works. He died in Venice in 1556.
