Brilliant, gorgeous, kind, loving mother, unwavering activist, Diana, Princess of Wales (or Diana Frances Spencer) was born on July 1, 1961 and was a member of the British Royal Family as the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, who is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and the first heir to the British throne.

Diana was born into the Spencer family, a family of British aristocracy of royal descent, and was the fourth child and third daughter of John Spencer, Viscount Olthop, and Frances Sand Kidd. He grew up at Park House, in Sandringham, and received his basic education in England and Switzerland. In 1975, when her father assumed the title of Earl Spencer, she became known as Lady Diana Spencer. She first came into the limelight in February 1981 when her engagement to Prince Charles was announced.

Diana remained in the global media spotlight throughout her marriage and beyond, which ended in divorce on August 28, 1996. Media and public attention peaked after her death in a car accident in Ponte del' Alma tunnel in Paris on 31 August 1997. Her loss of life sent a wave of emotion across the globe while her funeral was watched on the BBC by 32.10 million people in the UK alone. The death of Princess Diana caused enormous grief around the world. In fact, Princess Diana's second son, Harry, said years after her death: "My mother's death left a huge emotional void in me."
