Backstage Online Film Festival – The Return April 7, 2021 – Posted in: Movie theater – Tags: , ,

The time has come!

The Backstage Festival returns. Again, free! 898,144 pageviews, 93,559 film views, 5,262,927 impressions branded presence of sponsor, 273,660 Social Reach, 9,036 Shares, 1,049,752 page reads @ Brainfood Media Network with references to sponsor, was the tally (in numbers) of Backstage Festival 1.0. And of course, two top awards at Digital Media Awards. All of this, however, says nothing in the face of people's thanks for being there when they really needed us, with free premium content. We all enlivened our evenings together, interacted – and this experience is not going to be forgotten. It was the first time we saw continuous positive feedback even for references to the sponsor who made it all happen, which rarely happens. After all, there is no other festival in Greece with dozens of top films and completely free for everyone, without restrictions. But also on a global level the online festivals they offer are counted on the fingers of one hand legally free premium content.

We made it happen once, and we'll make it even better this time.

The Avopolis Network (www.avopolis.gr), which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, has prepared the 2nd edition of the online film festival, which will change on the evenings of April and May 2021. The music will once again play loudly, every night, with award-winning musical films, this time and premieres, with the participation of users on the platform that will be set up, online themed parties and events. And for registered members we will have special screenings, on demand viewing for 24 hours and gifts from across the spectrum of pop culture.

For all of us and you who don't give up and in one way or another want to experience shared musical and cinematic experiences.

Yes, times are hard, we are deprived enough and we will not see them coming back anytime soon. But we can live these experiences together. We can relive magical moments from festivals. Let's get to know each other better our own musicians pop & rock heroes. Let's think enough about her diversity. Let's imagine entering the clubs of Great Britain. To meet the leading representatives of hip hop throughout time. To see music as a part of the wider pop culture, which is also part of our lives.

We're going to build up the tension - as much as we can - and keep it there, even after the end of the film, with themed dj sets by the producers of Avopolis Radio (www.avopolisradio.gr)! We will contact, through the platform that will be set up, and we will share thoughts, problems, reactions, opinions...

Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist

A look at the path of the unconventional and explosive Vivienne Westwood who from Malcolm McLaren's boutique arrived with her creations to build her own punk legend in fashion.

1991: The Year That Punk Broke

A historical documentary by David Markey, following Nirvana and Sonic Youth on their European tour in 1991. 30 years after that year that changed music, a unique documentary that brings us closer to the two legendary bands, with performances and by the Ramones, Babes In Toyland, Dinosaur Jr, etc. As we hear Kim Gordon say even more starkly at one point in Dave Markey's 1991: The Year That Punk Broke, 1991 "was the year punk broke." The guerilla this audio-visual document is an ear-splitting and delightful, unapologetic reminder that the rock 'n' roll it's better when it doesn't care how it looks.

Manchester Keeps on Dancing

The chronicle of dance music and culture, from the Chicago scene in the '80s, to the legendary club Hacienda – a must-see film with names like Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Todd Terry, Andrew Weatherall and others. must-see legends of the genre!

Studio 54

Here come to life the wild nights of New York and the most legendary club, the temple of pleasure. With stories told for the first time by the owner of the club, without hiding anything!

The Gift: The Journey of Johnny Cash

The latest official biopic on the life of Johnny Cash, featuring rare material provided by the institution that bears his name and many unknown aspects of the music legend

Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap

One of the most important documentaries about rap, directed by Ice-T himself and with the most impressive cast of the genre: From Chuck D of Public Enemy, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Afrika Bambaataa, to Common, Kanye West, KRS-One and Snoop Dogg… You hear from the very stars and pioneers of the art of rap, in parts of New York, Los Angeles and of Detroit.

The Harder They Come

Half a century will pass since the film whose soundtrack "made reggae known all over the world" and the Backstage Festival brings it to your screens, remastered. The film, which has been described as "one of the most influential films of Jamaica and one of the most important of the Caribbean", is an enjoyable document for all music lovers.

Queercore – How to Punk a Revolution

A community that became a radical heartbeat that spread internationally and led many artists to adopt a queer identity as a counterweight to the homophobic manifestations of punk culture.

Turning, with Antony and the Johnsons
For the first time in Greece, the concert given by Antony Hegarty in 2006 at the Barbican in London, a collaboration with the video artist Charles Atlas. Here with him are dozens of women, transsexual, lesbian, standing with him on stage. Hegarty lets his guests talk about their bumpy road to discovering their sexual identity, difficult childhoods and unbearable sense of "not-normality".

Real Scenes: London
Now that all of this seems distant to us, a walk through modern London, the clubs and dance music scene and its themes, is a virtual journey that we need. And we made it happen: in collaboration with Resident Advisor, we live for a while the phase of the city that has the largest and most eclectic dance music scene in the world.

New York Doll

A documentary about the life of former New York Dolls member Arthur Kane. The film, nominated for the Satellite Award and Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, tells us the story of one of the most influential bands of punk rock and rock in general, from its founding in 1972, through all kinds of issues they had, but and the deaths of their members.

To Stay Alive: a method

A very special documentary, based on Michel Houellebec's 1991 essay “To Stay Alive”. The latter turns 30 years old this year, but today it is still (to say the least) relevant. A unique work on the constant struggle of the artist, the role of the poet and the mental health problems that often accompany these two. Narrated, in his famous, unique way, by Iggy Pop.

Thank you for your time!
