CINEMA 2023

The Panhellenic Association of Film Critics publishes for the 31st consecutive year the publication "Kinematografos", the only record of our cinematic reality in the Greek literature, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The 508 pages of "Cinema 2023", with editor-in-chief and editor-in-chief film critic and author Dimitris Koliodemos, include:

Critical analysis of all the films that were released in Greek theaters during the last year (1 Jan to 31 Dec 2023), with texts by members of P.E.K.K. that were published in the Greek press and/or the internet.

Analytical box office of the year and its commentary by Dimitris Koliodimos: In 2023, a total of 365 foreign and 74 Greek films were released. Of these 439 films, 52 were documentaries, 40 animations and 75 re-releases. That year, 7,430,042 tickets were sold compared to 5,515,358 that were sold in 2022 (6,790,265 for foreign and 639,777 tickets for Greek films). That is, in relation to 2022 the increase was of the order of 34,72%. But relative to the pre-coronavirus good times, the drop is 22,26%. The hopes to bridge this gap remain, even though the conditions for viewing any film have changed...

The annual vote, in which every year the Greek film critics highlight the best Greek and foreign film of the year, this year brought the film Behind the Straw Hats of Asimina Proedros to the top on the one hand and Jonathan Glazer's Zone of Interest and Fallen Leaves on the other. of Aki Kaurismaki (they tied for first place).

Vassilis Kehagia, the detailed recording of the new books about cinema and its protagonists by Dimitris Kalantidis, President of the Federation of Cinematic Clubs of Greece and a tribute to the people of the cinema who "left" us, with a complete In memory of the critic of cinema Kostas G. Karderini.
