THE ROAD OF ASKITS
Really, what does the word "exercise" mean in our world? In a world where daily physical exercise may be the basic condition of health, but spiritual exercise appears as something unnecessary, old-fashioned and ultimately unnecessary?
"Ascetics are not only those who are in the desert and in monasteries, but mainly those who feel deserted by the cheap trinkets offered by the modern way of life and which leaves them completely unsatisfied, thirsty and constantly hungry.
As a basic tool of the exercise, Colliander suggests turning to ourselves. Through this stanza we test ourselves on basic questions concerning our relationship with God and our brothers. The author helps us identify these issues within ourselves and look for appropriate solutions».
From the introduction of Fr. Alexandros Kariotoglou
“You may be caught up in earthly things and chained to them. It's never too late. It was not without reason that it was written in the Bible that Abraham was seventy-five years old when he left his homeland, and that the laborer who comes at the eleventh hour gets the same wages as the one who comes at the first.“.
Tito Colliander
