I HEAR YOU
I have two voices: that of the hands and that of the mouth. Which one is the strongest?
The Furfouri publications, with great joy and great pride, present her book Monica Taini I hear you, the first children's book published in our country for deaf children, with interpretation in sign language.
The book depicts the story and thoughts of a deaf girl, her Monique, who is looking for her place in a world that considers her different. THE Monique, immersed in a silent world, he is looking for the words and the codes to communicate first of all with herself and then with others around her. THE Monique she has more questions than fears, and carved out before her a difficult path that leads to the realization of identity.
At Furfouri editions we often choose "difficult" books, based not on commerciality, but on impact. In this particular case, we open a dialogue between society and groups of "different" people, whose voice (however expressed) often finds it difficult to find an audience.
In the book, except for her story Monique, you will find one cheerful glossary of deaf culture, where words like n are explained speech therapy, the Eng (Greek Sign Language), n lip reading and cochlear implants.

We thank Elpida Karageorgiou, from the Vineta bookstore in Thessaloniki, for her support and mediation.
