Author bio:
Iakovos Soussis was born in Corfu in 1958. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 1983.
He stayed in Great Britain for 12 years. He received an MSc from the University of Glasgow.
He trained in various hospitals (Addenbrooks Cambridge, Hammersmith London etc.) in Obstetrics-Gynecology and in 1993 he became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of London (RCOG). In 2007 he was declared a Fellow of the same College.
He was particularly involved in the diagnosis, treatment and research of infertility and announced the first clinical results of preimplantation genetic diagnosis in human embryos worldwide.
In Athens, he has been practicing the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1995. His team was awarded by the Medical Society of Athens in 1998, when the successful pre-implantation diagnosis of Mediterranean anemia was announced at the Panhellenic Medical Congress.
He was a founding member of the Greek branch of the RCOG and was elected to its board of directors. He is a member of the Board of Directors. of the Hellenic Society of Assisted Reproduction Physicians (EL.E.I.Y.A.).
He has authored many articles that have been published in international medical journals and has been invited as a speaker at many conferences.
