NORTHWEST PASS

A presentation of the most important avant-garde movements formed after the Second World War. Their story had long remained a hidden asterisk, a hidden footnote in the Book of Twentieth Century Anxiety. And yet, these movements contributed to the increase in temperature of our time, triggered mechanisms that led to explosions, incendiarily renewed historical vanguards (Futurism, Dada, Surrealism), brought to the fore the demand to change life in order to change the world. This book presents the Cobra movement (1949-1952), which operated in Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam, the Lettrist movement, which operated in Paris, and finally the Internationale Situationiste movement which, under the guidance of Guy Debord, led to the dreaded program of Realizing Art and Philosophy in the social field. It is now well known that May '68 is the peak result of the dissemination of the ideas of the Situationist International. The Northwest Passage is one of the best books of its kind internationally. It examines the evolution of avant-garde movements with ingenuity and narrative acuity. It contains many documents and photos. It was first released a decade ago and has been the subject of much fruitful discussion. Its reissue from Oxy is enriched with more material and a dense epitome of the author.
