A great survey of the history of private television in our country. A "scientific zapping" in the years of private television. News reports, investigative journalism, reality shows, presenters and stars, iconic figures and shows that have shaped reality television for the past three decades come under a multi-prismatic investigative lens for the first time. This collective book attempts to open the "box", that television which, both by research and criticism, has been derogatory.

The "box" of private television is opened not only to tell a story of the medium, but also to investigate the modern Greek reality. To look, critically but not disapprovingly, into the mirror of our modern social history.

The editors of the book are the professors of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Vassilis Vamvakas and Grigoris Paschalidis.

THE Vassilis Vamvakas is Associate Professor of Sociology of Communication in the Department of Journalism and Media at AUTH. His research interests and publications are in the sociology of communication, with an emphasis on popular culture and the relationship between ideology and media.

THE Grigoris Paschalidis is a Professor of Cultural Studies at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of AUTH.
