THE BOOKS OF BLOOD- The future of horror
THE Clive Barker is undoubtedly one of the most important and influential modern horror and fantasy writers. Versatile, with a creative range that covers areas such as comics, illustration, theater, photography, painting, he has left an indelible mark on modern fantasy and horror literature. And it all started with this series of short stories and short stories, The Books of Blood, which made him more widely known in the mid-80s.
Barker's trademark writing literally grabs the reader and holds them relentlessly to the end. Masterfully combining the darkest aspects of the human subconscious and the eternal penchant for horror, heroes drawn from the relentless everyday, and almost cinematic rhythms, Barker creates in the reader a true addiction that leaves him breathless asking for more. Even the humor that masterfully intersperses moments and frames from his works, serves more to subtly heighten the tension than to soften it.
Naturally, many of his works have found their way to the small and big screen. The most recent example is the film of the same name Books of Blood (Hulu, October 2020), which draws its material from the entirety of the series Books of Blood, and is expected with great interest from critics and the public. This particular film will contain three different stories where in the first a mother and psychologist by profession is convinced that she can talk to her dead son who died of leukemia, in the second a girl is afraid of sounds and in the third a murderer comes face to face with something metaphysical.

The Books of Blood are completed in six volumes, of which the first four are already released in Greece by Oxy publications, while the release of the remaining two is expected. It cannot be mentioned that this collection of short horror stories was even characterized by Stephen King as the future of horror.
Oxy publications also publish other important works of the author such as The matrix of violence, Hellraiser , The damn game, etc.
