THE GERMAN RESISTANCE AND THE "WHITE ROSE" WAVE
Alexander Smorel was beheaded at the age of 25, sentenced to death for "high treason" by the Nazi regime. It belonged to those Germans who considered it their duty to confront the Hitlerite power. Today the work of "White Rose" comes to the surface while he himself is honored as a martyr by the Orthodox Church.
"And I ask you" he tells us through his texts "as a Christian struggling to safeguard your most precious treasure, do you hesitate, hoping that someone else will raise a hand to defend you? Didn't God give you the strength and the will to fight? We must strike evil where it is strongest, and it is strongest in Hitler's power."

Elena Perekrestov was born in America. She obtained her Master's from the Russian School of Norwich University. He has taught at St. Cyril and Methodius High School in San Francisco-California and at the summer school for Church Music at Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, New York.
