1972. On a cold March evening, the peace of the weekend is violently interrupted when a flushed young cyclist rings the bell of Kolbjorn Christiansen, our familiar K2, desperate to speak to the inspector. Feeling obliged to help him, K2 lets the young man into the apartment, only to discover that he is being pursued by his colleagues from the Oslo Police. A bloody knife is in the young man's pocket, a knife that matches the wounds of a politician murdered just a few blocks away.
The evidence seems irrefutable, and the capture couldn't be easier. But, with the identity of the arrested person still unknown, and with the young man refusing to cooperate, K2 is far from solving the case. And then there's the crucial question that K2 can't get out of his head: why would a culprit run straight to an inspector's house while fleeing the scene of his heinous crime?
