Straw Men – The Conspiracy of Blood by Michael Marshall Three seemingly unrelated stories, unfolding in different parts of the US, are connected by an unimaginable web of horror: 68 people meet a slow and methodical death in a crowded fast food restaurant... a girl is kidnapped and in danger to die... a young man mourns his dead parents, until he finds a mysterious note in his father's armchair. A man not made of the hero's stuff is called upon to confront the source of evil, the Straw Men, and stop their killing spree without knowing their identity or the reason for the murders. Only one thing is certain: someone has to stop them. A masterful thriller full of mystery and suspense, written for each of us who has ever feared that someone is watching us. A few words about the author Michael Marshall was born in England in 1965 and studied Philosophy and Political Science at the University of Cambridge. He is engaged in writing books of modern literature, but also science fiction, which he signs with his full name, Michael Marshall Smith. As Michael Marshall he has written the books The Straw Men (2001), The Lonely Dead (2004), and Blood of Angels (2005), which immediately became international best sellers. His latest book, The Intruders, will be published in 2007. What to know about Michael Marshall He learned to read very early, he did not watch TV but listened to a lot of radio, his interest in mystery literature was sparked by Stephen's books King, reads Raymond Chandler and his favorite book is Breakfast at Tiffany's. He remembers with nostalgia the sweets of American Halloween and with not-so-nostalgia that his parents dressed him as Santa Claus that day of the year. As a student he was a member of the Cambridge Footlights theater group which was the springboard for the Monty Pythons and Emma Thompson. He is not a fan of writing lessons and he himself does not plan the course of his characters, but lets them decide it themselves. He generally believes that you shouldn't think too much before doing something... His best ideas come while sitting in outdoor cafes, usually in foreign countries, or bars after several beers. Without the hangover he couldn't have made it. If the Straw Men can teach us anything, it's that serial killers aren't that different from us! Growing up, he's not so much concerned with whether there are ghosts or demons, but how much cooler the world would be if they were. He is very tired of manga fashion. He is crazy about cats and is a keen cook
