Oxy Publications presents the collection Philosophy and Sexuality, coordinated by the famous professor of philosophy and author Fernando Savater from the ISTAR series edited by Fotis Terzakis. The texts that make up this volume are part of a famous seminar, which for some time fed the intellectual current of Spain, which was held in August 1986 in the context of the International University Meréndez y Pelago, in Magdalena, Santander. The participation of academics from various fields-philosophers, such as the organizer and also specialist in classical philosophy Augustín García Calvo˙ sociologists, such as Julia Varela and Fernando Alverez-Uría˙ psychologists, such as Christina Penã-Marín˙ semiologists, such as Jorge Lozano – gives a representative picture of currents that could be characterized as pioneering within the Spanish university in the 1980s: currents that are in no way inferior to those that constituted the forefront of theoretical research in the European human sciences a decade or two earlier. The organizer and soul of the seminar was Fernando Savater, who holds the Chair of Philosophical Ethics at the University of the Basque Country. He has published more than 40 books, is the director of the magazine Claves de Razón Práctica and known for his political struggle to stop terrorism in a region as sensitive as the headquarters of his activity.
