But the dangers are greater than he had first calculated and he is soon forced to make a stop to warm up and regain his strength. Will he manage to light the longed-for fire that will save his life? Will man finally be able to tame the wild and merciless nature?

In his relatively short life (1876-1916) the American writer and journalist Jack London  he wrote over fifty books and his amazing talent for vivid description characterizes all his timeless stories (The call of nature, The sea wolf, White tooth, The fire and many more).

A man, probably a gold prospector, in Canada at the beginning of the last century travels with his dog a long distance in the country in order to reach the camp of his companions. However, it is -60° and it is easy to freeze if one is not careful. They warned him, before he started, that he had better not travel alone, but he did not listen to them.
He walks on a frozen river and at some point the ice breaks and he gets wet. His hands and feet are frozen. Will he manage to light the fire, which is necessary for his survival?
