STORM IN MACEDONIA

“… extortions of innocent and unarmed persons, robberies, murders of men and women, merciless martyrdoms of priests, doctors and teachers. mutilations of corpses, burning of churches, anarchist dynamite against every friend of law and order. annihilation of Orthodox Christians and Muslims, terrorism, bloodshed from killings, looting..."
A handful of fanatical patriots will propose a guerilla war and, with volunteer leader Petros Kallergis, will risk their lives to liberate this "distant" part of Greece. Will they be able to protect the Macedonians from the Bulgarian "genocide", until better days arrive and they are able to settle accounts with the Turks?

Detective literature began in Greece [...] with Maska magazine [...]. Jimmy Korinis is one of Maska's best-known names and perhaps the only one still writing detective novels to this day.
Petros Markaris

0 Jimmy Korinis, the man behind the Mask, is one of the forefathers of the Greek detective story. He transferred to Greek the style and atmosphere of the classics of the genre (Hamet, Chandler, Gardner).

STORM IN MACEDONIA

Jimmy Korinis saw his first detective story published (and paid for) at the age of 14. He became a full-time crime writer at 18, writing for the legendary Maska (where he later became editorial director for eleven years) and Mysterio magazines, as well as other major Greek magazines (Embros, Ellinida, Fantasia, Proto, Bouquet, Fantazio). He entered the field of cinema with the film Nightwalkers and a series of commercials that he wrote and directed. He switched to television, writing and directing two sitcoms, two thrillers of thirteen and nine episodes, as well as five 55-minute thrillers for state television. He also wrote twenty-four episodes for another crime series on state television. A thriller of nine half-hour episodes directed by Nikos Zapatinas. He was the editorial director of the Auto Express and Auto Salon editions and for a short time one of the three editors-in-chief of the Apogeumatini newspaper.

He was Associate Producer on the American film Blind Date starring Keir Dulea and Kirsty Alley and wrote the original screenplay that started the twin production for Christopher Columbus. Three of his novels were serialized in the weekly magazine Images. Four of his previous novellas were published in books. For a short time he was general manager of the Star Channel television station. He lived for twenty-seven years in London, where he wrote two books for the New English Library publishing house and was a regular member of the Writers Guild of Great Britain and the Directors Guild of Great Britain. Recently, the script for Columbus – The story never told was sold (option) to the Australian-French film company Vivre Films. Also, his screenplay Quest for Troy was selected among the thirty-two semifinalists of an international screenplay competition. He is a regular member of the Society of Greek Directors.
